Laura E. Schumacher
Creative Director / Designer / Writer
Laura has over 20 years experience in marketing, design and advertising working with a variety of clients and businesses. Her experience includes: Director of Public and Professional Relations for Carolina Organ Procurement Agency, an organization dedicated to organ transplantation and education (affiliated with Duke University Medical Center, UNC Hospitals and East Carolina University transplant centers); Director of Marketing for Piedmont Healthcare in Iredell County, a multispecialty group of over 100 medical providers; and Founder and Creative Director of Vermillion Creative Group, Inc.
Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communications/English from Catawba College and later attended East Carolina University for a second undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts — Graphic Design. She is a member of the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society, The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development and the American Marketing Association.
Matthew Tice
Senior Web / Print Designer
Matthew has over 15 years experience as a graphic design professional. From production work/pre-press to web design to sign making and comic-book coloring, he’s done a little bit of everything. His experience includes: Web Master and Production Assistant for the publisher Pinnacle Entertainment Group; Art Director for the Internet Graphics Team at the online retailer AnotherUniverse.com / Fandom.com; Print/Web Designer for United Communications Group; Web Designer for the City of Rockville, MD and Print Designer for Verizon.
Matthew earned his Bachelor of Science in The Fine Arts (drawing, painting and sculpture triple major) from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Rutherford Visual Arts Guild and continues to paint and display his works whenever possible. Matthew has worked with Vermillion since 2007.
Jeff Bayer
Interactive Designer / Developer
Mixing “technical” with “creative” can be like trying to mix oil and water. With a background in engineering and penchant for artistic creation, Jeff deftly merges the two skills to create rich interactive web content. As a hybrid design/developer, Jeff can usually be found deeply absorbed in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, WordPress, Flash, ActionScript, 3D modeling or digital graphic design.
Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Virginia Tech. He has worked with Vermillion since 2009.
Dusten Harward
Integrated Media & IT Manager
Dusten has always had an aptitude for technology. At a very early age he would find old computers and frankenstein them together to build a working machine. Dusten graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BA in Marketing in 2009. He has always been an avid social media participant. Dusten was given an opportunity to study at the Focus Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs in 2010 and acquired many of his skills with social media while serving at an internship at Focus on the Family. Since then, Dusten has developed a passion for leveraging social media to connect businesses with consumers.
Rebecca Bocker
Designer / Illustrator
Rebecca started working with Vermillion Creative Group, Inc. as an intern while finishing her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at East Carolina University and later worked as a full time designer until 2002. She then worked three years for Weyerhaeuser-Wilton Conner Packaging in Charlotte, NC. Weyerhaeuser is one of the leading producers of in-store retail displays including corrugated, semi-permanent and permanent displays, signage and various collateral materials. Rebecca created design and packaging solutions for such clients as Lance Crackers and served as Lead Designer for Energizer Battery. She was a 2004 Gold Award winner in the POPAI show.
Jason Hendrickson
Designer / Illustrator
Creativity came early for Jason in the form of crayon on the walls of his parent’s house. In the 20 or so years after that, he has been an illustrator, production artist, designer and art director for several Indiana advertising and design agencies. He developed his skills for healthcare marketing design at Cabello Associates in Indianapolis, doing regional, national and international branding, print and event work for companies such as Eli Lilly and Company Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Laboratories and Bayer Ascencia Care. He further developed his skills in award-winning healthcare & consumer advertising at Montgomery Zukerman Davis Advertising (MZD) for such clients as The Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coalition, The City of Indianapolis, State of Indiana, Penn Station East Coast Subs and Papa John’s Pizza. His arrival in the Charlotte area, 2 years ago, led him to Vermillion Creative Group, Inc., to continue his focus on dynamic print, campaign and branding creation.
Jason attended the Herron School of Art In Indianapolis, Indiana as a Fine Arts Painting major. He still works and shows in galleries in North Charlotte and the Lake Norman area, and is also an animator and illustrator of children’s books.
Justin Brown
Motion Graphic Designer / Video Producer / Editor
Justin developed a love for the video/film industry at an early age and turned his passion for the arts into a career a few short years later. His natural creativity along with his years of study in the motion graphic design, video producing and editing fields, gives him the edge when creating impressionable videos and designs. He has studied at the Carolina School of Broadcasting, has over 15 years of experience in the video industry, and has received national recognition for his work in the motion graphic field.
Native to Denver, North Carolina, Justin continues to work on local commercial spots, has developed numerous video, web, and animation projects, and leads the Audio/Visual Team at the church he attends.
